Tips for buying health insurance in Utah
Tip 1
When looking for health insurance look at which doctors and hospitals are part of your provider network. Is your doctor included in this network ? Where is the nearest included hospital located? Is your family doctor on the list? The best thing to do is just call your doctor up and ask which insurance plans they take. No need to go through all the companies coverage levels if they are not on the list. Save yourself some time and make a quick call to you doctors office, or look on our provider list when getting a quote.
Tip 2
Are you planning on starting a family soon? Then you will want a plan that includes immunizations, and well baby care check ups. Do you need coverage for prescriptions? What about annual physicals is it covered? Be sure to consider your current and future needs when shopping for your health insurance plans. Everyone has a different budget and needs.
Tip 3
Is the agent or agency your working with have a local office. Most people when getting a health insurance quote give away their private information to companies outside of Utah or to lead based companies that sell your information to others and are unaware of that until they get 10 agents calling their work or home all day long. We do not practice this here at Utahhealth.com. We are 100% confident that you will return to us, that we only ask for your age and zip code when getting a health insurance rate. We do not need your private information or phone number to get a quote. The only time you will need to give us or the insurance company your full information is when you have found the plan you want to apply for. So tip 3 is deal with a local agency and not a company based outside of Utah, if they do not have a local 801 area code phone number do not deal with them.
Tip 4
Stay Healthy if your smoking this will increase your rates, if you carry some extra pounds your rate most likly will go up for sure. So the best thing you can do is excersie and stop smoking for better insurance rates. This will save you thousands of dollars over time. Find out if about local gyms in your area or wellness programs. They are worth the money for your health and wealth.
Tip 5
Rewrite your plan
It is very smart to review your plan every year with your insurance company. Most agents will not tell you this but let's say you where rated up 50% on and individual plan 2 years ago because of smoking. Let's say you quit smoking 1 year ago, should you still be paying that high rate for health insurance? Or let's say you dropped 40 pounds over the last two years, Don't you think you deserve a lower health insurance rate? We think so. Get a new quote and apply for a new plan if you can get better coverage at a lower rate.
